Music is an aural art form and is best taught via the ear. We keep this notion at the core of our teaching method.
We listen to the song, clap the rhythm and sing the melody. Getting a sense of similar patterns that will make it easier to play the song when at the piano.
This approach means students learn songs faster and relate to the written notes they play on the piano.
As students progress onto harder levels, they will be more independent with their music reading. We then focus on song structure, chord progressions, playing by ear and improvising, as their understanding of reading notes becomes stronger.
